CHALLENGE Consortium
Opening doors for Virginia liberal arts college students

and employers since 1983

32 years of great careers!

Thank you, students and employers, for making 32 years of success with CHALLENGE!

The CHALLENGE Consortium began 32 years ago when career services professionals from several regional liberal arts schools formed a group to help their students connect with employers seeking to hire talented graduates. CHALLENGE events provide a wide range of employers an opportunity to meet some of the brightest young people from Virginia’s prestigious liberal arts institutions. The premiere event, typically held in November, was the CHALLENGE Job and Internship Fair, which enjoyed much success from students and employers alike. Over the years, over 700 organizations participated in the fair, and many of our students received job and internship offers from top area companies. With the changing tide of career fair models, the Consortium has moved from a general career fair to industry-specific networking and informational career expos.

In an effort to stay current with trends, the CHALLENGE Consortium is refocusing the traditional job and internship fair. This year, on November 4, 2015, federal agencies and students from represented schools are invited to attend the CHALLENGE Federal Career Expo in Roanoke, VA. The inaugural Federal Career Expo was held in 2013 and was very successful, with many agencies represented and over 200 students in attendance. We have provided all information needed for students, employers, and information about the newly renovated venue, The Sheraton at Roanoke.

In March 2016, Career Premiere will be held in Roanoke, VA and students from CHALLENGE institutions are encouraged to attend.

The Challenge Job & Internship Fair was featured on the evening news broadcasts of WSET, with a story entitled Students Diversify Themselves in Job Fair. WSET is the local ABC affiliate in Lynchburg, and also sponsored a booth at the fair.
